New friends you discover on your way

We all dream of long trips, great adventures and endless anecdotes to tell our family and friends on our return. But on numerous occasions the dream could not be further from reality.

Who has not agreed somewhere with tourists who only criticize what they see or make comparisons, often in a derogatory way, with what they know in their place of origin?

It is a real shame to make the effort to move to another country, to another completely different culture and spend the day wishing to return home, to your comfortable home where everything is known and where your five senses can rest.

Sometimes I get the feeling that some people travel just to take a couple of photos, hang them on the wall of their house and be able to tell their friends that they were there. Anyway, there are people for everything.

If you do not want to suffer from I was there, I detail below 5 fundamental recommendations for your trips.

1. Open your mind

Free yourself from everything you know in your place of origin. Get rid of prejudices and get ready to absorb everything you see, hear, smell, feel in this new country you have reached, full of surprises and things other than what you would have ever imagined.

It may be necessary for you to devote some time to this mental preparation. Before traveling it is not only important to prepare the backpack, suitcase, documentation or money. It is also important to prepare yourself, spend a few minutes to be aware of what you are doing. You are traveling to a place that you do not know if you will never have the opportunity to return, therefore it is worth opening all the senses and soaking up the different ways of doing and living with which you will meet. That will be your true souvenir.

2. Be flexible

On your trips, especially if they are long-lasting, you will encounter a lot of setbacks, improvisations and decisions that you must make on the go. My recommendation is that you do not stick to a closed and strict plan. Leave space for the variants, because on numerous occasions you will talk with other travelers like you who will guide you with their recommendations, and what better recommendation than that of a person who comes from the place where you are going!

Do not become obsessed with having all the details tied and controlled, act a little on the fly. If you plan for the long term, be aware that the short term can change what you planned. Accept it. After all, a trip is like life, you never know what or who you are going to find around the corner.

3. Be respectful
